DIVORCE

January and Divorce

Over the past several years, January has earned the nickname “Divorce Month” with many studies revealing a spike in divorces in January, followed by a rise and peak in late March.
What is causing this?

One, unhappy couples are reluctant to break up the family during Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas or New Year’s. Many couples might put on a brave face through the holidays for the benefit of their family, particularly children.

Holidays are also a time when emotions run high and if you are already unhappy in your marriage, the holidays may push those feelings to the breaking point.

Another possibility is that people also wait until January due to scarcity of court time through Thanksgiving and New Year’s.

Some argue that the end of the year brings reflection and New Year’s resolutions tie in with the push to make important changes going forward.

“With the guidance of trained professionals, you can gain a greater understanding of the confusing divorce process.”
Research your Options – Second Saturday Divorce Workshop
Some marital psychologists and divorce lawyers say a more accurate description for January would be “I’m Starting to Research My Options Month.”

If you are researching your divorce options, a great place to start is www.secondsaturdaylasvegas.com.
